Mercer Drafting

An editorial portfolio site that lets the work take center stage

Mercer Drafting & Design is an architecture design and drafting studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They came to us to reposition themselves as the premium studio that they are and needed a site that reflects that.

We moved them away from Wordpress and designed a site that is editorial and clean.

The site is minimal, almost like a blank canvas ready to showcase their work. The images and videos take center stage while the typography works to support that imagery rather than looking like a boring paragraph.

Type here does more than merely informing the user, it acts as a part of the visual design, which gives this site a minimalistic character.

Premium but approachable

High-resolution images, videos and generous negative space give the site a premium editorial feel that still stays welcoming to a homeowner. The challenge was keeping it restrained without being boring.

Subtle animation

Refined subtle animations add life to the website, without ever coming in the way of the images.

Scalable and Maintainable

This site uses CMS collections so that the client's internal team can manage everything in-house. This not only saves them money but also makes it possible to keep the site updated with minimal effort.
