Sidenote

About Sidenote

Sidenote is a free personal blog template for Framer that helps writers, designers and researchers publish long essays people actually finish. Its signature is something no other Framer template has: Tufte-style sidenotes that sit in the margin beside the sentence they explain, and open in a bottom drawer on phones.

Perfect for

  • Designers and engineers writing essays about their craft

  • Researchers and academics who need footnotes that don't break the reading

  • Founders and consultants building an audience with a newsletter

  • Writers moving from Substack or Medium to their own site

What makes it different

  • Margin sidenotes. Write [1] in your text and the note appears beside that line, with hover highlighting.

  • A scroll-driven home page. 17 sections: a pinned story where notes arrive one by one, a pull quote that inks in as you scroll, a pencil line that draws between your start-here essays, a sideways series shelf, an annotated bookshelf, drag-around topic chips and parallax letters.

  • A lab-notebook look. Graph paper that fills with pencil under the cursor, mono labels in pencil blue and a cohesive duotone image set.

  • Day, Lamp and Auto. A visible theme switch that fades between themes, with a lamp glow at night.

  • Built for long reading. Contents rail, reading progress, live search with topic filters, share links and related essays.
