Footnotes CMS

About Footnotes CMS

Your readers want to verify your claims, but traditional footnotes often break the reading flow. This component brings Wikipedia-style footnotes, source citations, and interactive references to Framer with smooth scroll-to-footnote behavior, instant return links, annotations, and full CMS integration.

It’s designed for modern articles that need content citations, research references, and verifiable source links without hurting readability.

Instructions

1. Add the Component

  • Copy and paste the Footnotes component into your Framer CMS page.

  • Place it at the bottom of your blog post or article page

2. Connect Your CMS

  • Create a CMS field called “Footnotes” (Formatted Text type)

  • Click the + icon next to Footnote Field in the right panel

  • Select Set Variable → choose your CMS footnotes field

3. Add References in Your Content

  • In your main content (named “Content” by default), type [^1] where you want a citation.

  • Add more references like [^2], [^3], etc.

  • These become clickable jump to reference links automatically.

4. Define Your Footnotes

In your CMS Footnotes field, add entries like:

[^1]: Your first citation or note here [^2]: Your second citation or note here[^3]: And so on

This supports blog footnotes, article references, and rich source links.

5. Customize the Styling

  • Adjust colors, fonts, and animations in property controls

  • Set your Content Frame Name if different from “Content”

  • Configure scroll offset for fixed headers

That's it - your interactive endnotes and annotations are now active.
