About Things and Stuff

things.and.stuff is a growing collection of design objects curated by friends. It began with a love for Japanese architecture and interior design, and the attention to raw materials and how an object relates to its surroundings. The collection carries that lens into industrial design, focusing on metal-based objects and the many ways they can be made.

Objects live in within a custom CMS collection, so a new find becomes a single entry with its image, name, and maker, and the grid builds itself from there. The photography runs edge to edge in a tight grid, labelled in lowercase monospace. Blend modes shift colour across the natural tones of each image, and hover and click triggers tones synthesized live in the browser, with no audio files to load.

The narrow focus is an ongoing experiment in material language. Holding every entry to the same metals and level of finish draws attention to the details and reinforces the act of noticing.
