Alta Futures

Alta Futures is the philanthropic arm of OnDean, the Chicago family business of Jessica and Andrew Sieja. It makes grants and impact investments and hosts gatherings. It had recently moved away from the usual foundation setup of funding three causes (climate, democracy, community) to backing people and ideas directly: "We elevate leaders we believe in and ideas that get us stoked." Their old WordPress site still read like every other foundation, and the brief was to make the website catch up with who they'd become.

We designed and built a new site in Framer around one feeling: sophisticated optimism. That means hopeful without being playful, and confident without being corporate. Black-and-white surf and ocean photography carries the brand's sense of momentum and calculated risk. A single Signal Orange accent, clean grotesk headlines and small monospaced labels hold it together. Motion stays quiet: text reveals word by word as you scroll, photos pin and scale, labels scramble in, and a live Chicago clock ticks in the corner.
